Children’s Mercy + Camber Mental Wellness Campus

A 2025 Capstone Award-winning project, the Children’s Mercy + Camber Mental Wellness Campus in Olathe, KS, utilizes a trauma-informed design approach by Hoefer Welker. McGrory Glass provided DefendMed™ security glazing for both exterior and interior applications to create a safe, non-institutional environment. Exterior curtain walls in dayrooms and activity areas feature insulated DefendMed™ units with a high-performance low-e coating and a custom white gradient fade for privacy. Interior nurse stations utilize clear, non-insulated DefendMed™ for staff security. This project highlights the skilled fabrication and extensive production capabilities required to integrate life-safety security products into a therapeutic atmosphere. All solutions were fabricated in-house at our 250,000-square-foot facility, ensuring unparalleled quality control and system integration for this specialized school and healthcare campus.
