University of New Mexico Behavioral Health Crisis Center

Designed by McCain + Yu, the UNM Hospital Behavioral Health Center (BHCC) integrates high-performance life-safety and security glazing to create a secure, welcoming environment.

Overview

The UNM Hospital Behavioral Health Center (BHCC) utilizes a high-performance life-safety glazing package to support crisis care needs. McGrory Glass fabricated DefendMed™ forced-entry-resistant glazing, including insulated clear and white translucent versions, to meet the healthcare sector’s requirements for safety and daylighting. The project also features BallisticDefend™ 3-GCP, ensuring comprehensive security within a welcoming, elegant, LEED Silver-certified setting. This project highlights the skilled fabrication and extensive production capabilities required to integrate high-performance architectural glass into a modern healthcare environment. All solutions were fabricated in-house at our 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facilities.
