The American Copper Buildings Skybridge

Custom glass skybridge by McGrory Glass and Glas Trösch for SHoP Architects’ American Copper Buildings. Features LUXAR® anti-reflective glass and SEFAR® metallic mesh.

Overview

A landmark achievement in the New York City skyline, the American Copper Buildings Skybridge connects two copper-clad towers designed by SHoP Architects. McGrory Glass, in collaboration with Glas Trösch, provided high-performance glazing for this 100-meter structural link. The installation features three layers of insulated LUXAR® anti-reflective glass laminated with a SEFAR® metallic mesh interlayer, creating a shimmering exterior that masks the building’s utility distribution systems. This sophisticated solution meets strict NYC energy codes while providing residents in the fitness studio and lap pool with a completely clear view of the city. The project represents the skilled fabrication and partnership required to execute one of the most significant skybridges built in Manhattan in decades.
