Light Cascade at Harbourfront Centre

Laminated glass with metallic dot-patterned printed film interlayer by McGrory Glass for Light Cascade at Harbourfront Centre. Designed by James Carpenter.

Overview

The Light Cascade at the York Quay Parking Garage in Toronto, designed by James Carpenter Design Associates, utilizes architectural glass to transform a functional parking structure into a light-reflecting art installation. McGrory Glass fabricated the 50-foot wide, three-story glass wall using a custom film interlayer printed with metallic silver and matte gray dots. The print process utilized chrome and matte inks to create varying levels of reflectivity and light diffusion. This technical execution ensures the illumination of both the interior parking levels and the exterior public square. This project highlights the skilled fabrication and extensive production capabilities required to integrate specialized architectural glass into a modern infrastructure environment.
