Corning® Med-X® LT Glass
A revolutionary product developed within the last two years, Corning® Med-X® LT Glass is a thin, lightweight, scratch-resistant, and impact safety rated material for use in radiation shielding windows, and as an alternative to acrylic barriers.
Corning® Med-X® LT Glass is available in low volume or higher volume repeat sizes, with a maximum finished size of up to 40” x 60”. Corning® Med-X® LT Glass is registered as compliant with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, and McGrory Glass, Inc. is the only FDA Registered Medical Device Manufacturer; Repackager/Relabeler of FDA Registered radiation shielding glass.
Technical Details
- Corning® Med-X® LT Glass offers excellent radiation protection performance: 1.2 mm Pb to 2.6 mm Pb lead equivalence at 150 kV tested according to international standard IEC 61 331:2014.
- Corning® Med-X® LT Glass is qualified with the most stringent Impact Safety standards for glazing: EN 12600 (Europe) and Cat II CFR Part 16 #1201 (United States).
- Compared to current solutions on the market, Corning® Med-X® LT Glass is up to 10 kg/m2 lighter.
- Wide range of lead equivalents, from 1.2 millimeters to 2.6 millimeters.
- Available in large sizes up to 40” x 60”, cut specifically to customer requirements (with cut edges ground or finished with safety chamfers).
- Laminated Corning® Med-X® LT x-ray glass shielding products will meet CPSC 16CFR 1201 Cat.#2 Safety Glazing Standards.
- Laminated Corning® Med-X® LT x-ray glass shielding products are not float glass, and are not tested to meet the ASTM 1172 / Float Glass Products Standard.
