Project Spotlight: Korn Ferry

Project: Korn Ferry

Location: Chicago, IL

Designer: Gensler

Product: Laminated low-iron glass with printed white fade film interlayer

Description: McGrory worked with Gensler in determining the proper glass design for the Korn Ferry Chicago office relocation through extensive sampling from the start of the project to completion. In this specific instance, the product was changed and resampled multiple times in order to best represent the fade effect that Gensler was going for, which was based on the client’s request for a minimalist approach. McGrory and Gensler were able to agree on a laminated low-iron white fade product that represented their desired fade effect perfectly. The glass was installed in a partition system between hallways and conference rooms in Korn Ferry’s new offices, located in the iconic Willis Tower. The design won a “Citation of Merit” recognition in the 2016 AIA Chicago Interior Design Awards.

“‘This is minimalism executed well,’ commented one juror. The firm incorporated a sense of ‘tranquil pensiveness’ — an element that the jury wholly agreed was done perfectly — that a space that showcases its efficiencies and discipline, in much the same manner as the client delivers its services to their clients.” (source)
